Here is information you can use when purchasing some scanners from third parties. These are by no means the only scanners that will work with Intelligent Instrumentation terminals, since they are open-architectured, but this is a sampling.
We supply some of the scanners listed below. If you purchase the scanner from us, the correct cable is included and any configuration variables are set to work correctly or have explicit instructions included for doing so.
The decoded scanners that have PS/2 cables can be attached to the external keyboard port on LANpoint terminals.
The decoded scanners that have RS232 cables can be attached to a COM port on LANpoint terminals. Many can be powered by the terminal (COM pin 9), and do not need a separate external power supply.
The decoded scanners that have wand emulation output can be attached to the LANpoint PRO and FACTORYpoint PRO "barcode" port. They can also be used with the legacy "TM" serial data collection terminals.
The undecoded scanners that have laser output can be attached to the LANpoint PRO and FACTORYpoint PRO "laser" port.

Configuration Instructions |
Symbol LS2208 |
When using this scanner, you may want to program the suffix to be <CR> or <CR/LF> by scanning the MISCELLANEOUS SETTINGS barcodes on the LS2208 Quick Start Guide |
Symbol LS-1004-I100-7700Z |
When using this laser scanner with any terminal, set the scanner in Synapse Host mode. When using this laser scanner with the LANpoint/TIMEpoint/FACTORYpoint products (but not the PROs or the LANpointCE), also set the scanner Variable Leading Margin parameter to 140 milliseconds instead of the factory default 80 milliseconds. |
Symbol LS1902T-I000 |
When using this laser scanner with the 25-32465-20 serial cable, be aware that the laser's COM port communications parameters are shipped from Symbol with the factory default communications parameters set to 9600,n,8,1. Be sure to configure the LANpoint terminal to match the communication parameters of the laser scanner or vice-versa. Once the communications parameters are set, you must scan the configuration barcode labeled "Standard RS232-C" in the LS1900 Series Quick Reference Guide for the scanner to communicate correctly. |
Symbol LS1902T-I000 |
When using this laser scanner with the 25-51618-21 cable with (discontinued) LANpoint/TIMEpoint/FACTORYpoint terminals (but not the LANpoint PRO, FACTORYpoint PRO, or the LANpoint CE), set the scanner Variable Leading Margin parameter to 140 milliseconds instead of the factory default 80 milliseconds. You can find the barcode code commands for programming the Variable Leading Margin in the LS1900 Series Product Reference Guide ...72-50930-02...Revision A...November 2002. |
Symbol LS-3603-I200A(or I200E) |
When using this laser scanner with any of our terminals, the scanner needs to be changed from the factory default. For all terminals, set the scanner in wand emulation mode. For LANpoint/FACTORYpoint/TIMEpoint (but NOT the PROs or the LANpointCE), set the scanner Variable Leading Margin parameter to 90 milliseconds instead of the factory default 80 milliseconds, or change Wand Emulator Bar Output to BAR LOW instead of the factory default BAR HIGH (either parameter change will work). |
Symbol LS-4004-I000-7700Z |
When using this laser scanner with the LANpoint/TIMEpoint/FACTORYpoint products (but not the PROs or the LANpointCE), set the scanner Variable Leading Margin parameter to 140 milliseconds instead of the factory default 80 milliseconds. |
Symbol LT-1810-I100A(or I100E) |
When using this laser scanner with the LANpoint/TIMEpoint/FACTORYpoint products (but not the PROs or the LANpointCE), the scanner Variable Leading Margin parameter needs to be changed 90 milliseconds instead of the factory default 80 milliseconds. |
